As you go for walks with your children, you can find interesting objects that nature has cast aside, such as acorns, large oak leaves and bark. Gather those items and take them home to make your own fairy house in your garden or yard. The project will spark your children's creativity and provide an opportunity for you to casually educate them on nature.

Choose a location in your garden, in a shaded corner or under the canopy of a tree, for example, for your fairy house. Make sure there is shade for the house for most of the day.
Build your house by using the tree trunk for stability. You can put forked twigs vertically into the ground at each corner and lay a horizontal twig into the fork across them so that it will hold a roof made of bark, or you can make the whole house of bark. You can also use a number of twigs and place them closely together to form the walls.
Build a slightly different style of house by turning a broken planter pot upside down. Place moss over all of it and some tree bark on the top as the roof. Add twigs and fallen leaves and blossoms from plants.
Decorate the inside of the house with a large rock for a table and acorns for chairs. Add fern and moss for a bed. Use little pebbles to make a path and pine cones at the entrance to the path. Put on your roof made of moss or bark and then add a few miniature items outside.
Leave "fairy" food, such as berries. and check back often. According to tradition, when the food is gone, the fairies have found the house.
