Spare vase
Locate a Lucky Bamboo plant. The Lucky Bamboo should be in good health. Since there is no blooming season for the Lucky Bamboo, you can propagate at any time.
Cut the top off from the Lucky Bamboo. It must be at least six inches long. Keep the joint if you can. Cut at a 45 degree angle with a sharp knife or sharp pruning shears.
Place vertically in a vase or pot with distilled water. You can also lay the plant down in a pan of water. Lucky Bamboo will root either way. You must use distilled water. Lucky Bamboo cannot tolerate chemicals commonly found in tap water.
Place in indirect sunlight. Keep the Lucky Bamboo moist.
Once the root system has formed, you can plant permanently either in a vase of water and rocks, or in moist soil.
Tips & Warnings
Change the water at least every two weeks to prevent algae or mold growth.
