Seed ticks are the larvae stage of ticks. They are six-legged insects that act as parasites, finding a host and feeding on blood. After obtaining a host and feeding, they normally drop to the ground and shed, thus entering the adolescent stage of the insect life cycle. When they reach adulthood, males die soon after mating, and females die soon after laying her eggs. When getting rid of these insects, a strong insecticide must be used around the area that they are breeding and on the ground around it. To get them off of clothing and skin, they will need to be pulled off and killed.
Things You'll Need
Insecticide
Tweezers
Washer and dryer
Spray the area where the ticks are generating from heavily with insecticide.
Pull seed ticks off of clothing and skin. When removing these creatures from skin, be sure to get the head out of the skin. If you don’t, the tick will grow another body, and continue mating and laying eggs.
Drop all ticks into a container filled with full-strength insecticide.
Wash all clothing in extremely hot water, and dry regularly.
Pull off any corpses left with the tweezers before wearing any affected clothing.
Tips & Warnings
Getting rid of ticks is extremely challenging because they can have many sites. If you are having trouble with a tick infestation, call a professional exterminator.
Use extreme caution when dealing with ticks as they can transmit Lyme disease.
Store all chemical pesticides and insecticides out of reach of all children and household pets.
