Peaches and cream is a popular cultivar of sweet corn. It has between 16 and 18 rows of kernels on each ear and takes about 83 days to reach maturity after planting. Peaches and cream sweet corn is classified as SE, or sugary enhancer, meaning it maintains the creamy texture and tenderness of standard varieties, but is significantly sweeter. Peaches and cream sweet corn is relatively easy to grow and requires only routine care to thrive.

Plant peaches and cream sweet corn in mid-spring once the soil has reached about 55 degrees F. Choose a northern location in the garden so the shadows of the corn don't block sunlight from other plants.
Sow each seed 1 inch deep in rows spaced 34 inches apart. Space each seed about 10 inches apart within the rows to allow plenty of room for growth. Plant two or more rows of peaches and cream sweet corn side-by-side to ensure proper pollination.
Water peaches and cream sweet corn once every five days until the plants reach about 5 inches in height. Reduce frequency to once per week thereafter, soaking the soil to a depth of about 1 inch at each application.
Spread a 2-inch layer of organic mulch over the soil surrounding the peaches and cream sweet corn to suppress weeds and increase moisture conservation. Replenish the mulch as necessary throughout the year to keep it at 2 inches deep.
Feed peaches and cream sweet corn by side-dressing with a high nitrogen 34-0-0 NPK fertilizer. Side-dress by digging a 1-inch-deep trench beside the row of corn. Add the fertilizer to the trench and cover with soil. Apply at the rate recommended by the fertilizer manufacturer.
Harvest peaches and cream sweet corn when the ears are about 8 inches in length, and the silk is dry and brown. Puncture a kernel at the tip of an ear, and if a milky fluid is excreted, then harvest immediately.
Grasp an ear of corn in your hand and snap down quickly to sever from the plant. Continue until all of the ears have been harvested. Use or store immediately for best flavor and texture. Keep peaches and cream sweet corn in the refrigerator for up to one week.
Tips & Warnings
Use a readily available organic mulch, such as chopped leaves or grass clippings.
Do not grow other varieties of corn near the peaches and cream plantings. If cross-pollinated with another variety, the kernels may become inedible.
