When you are installing a brick paver walkway, it is inevitable that you will need to cut brick pavers during your installation. There are specialized tools designed for cutting brick pavers, but they are expensive and only needed when you have a large amount of brick pavers to cut. You can use an angle grinder with a dry cutting diamond blade to cut brick pavers on smaller projects. The cuts produced by the angle grinder are precise but take longer to produce than a normal masonry wet saw.
Things You'll Need
Brick paver
Worktable
Tape measure
Pencil
Framing square
Bar clamp
Safety glasses
Face shield
Leather gloves
4.5-inch diamond blade
4.5-inch angle grinder
Set a brick paver on the worktable.
Stretch the tape measure along the brick paver and mark the length that you need to cut the brick paver with the carpenter's pencil.
Align one side of the framing square with the pencil mark that you placed on the surface of the brick paver. Run the pencil along the edge of the framing square to make a cut line on the paver.
Secure the marked brick paver to the worktable with the bar clamp.
Put on your face shield, safety glasses and leather gloves.
Secure the 4.5-inch diamond blade to the 4.5-inch angle grinder and lower your face shield.
Align the diamond blade with the cut line that you placed on the brick paver, pull the trigger of the angle grinder and lower the spinning blade onto the surface of the brick paver.
Run the diamond blade along the marked cut line in long passes to cut through the brick paver.
Tips & Warnings
Allows dry cut brick pavers outside and down wind of your house and vehicles, as the process creates a lot of dust.
