If you are having trouble getting your Troy-Bilt self-propelled lawn mower started, or it dies right away like it is running out of gas even though your gas tank is full, you most likely have a clogged fuel line. The fuel line runs between the base of your mower's gas tank and the side of the carburetor. The fuel line will become clogged with debris and old gas over time. Unclogging the fuel line isn't difficult.
Things You'll Need
Flat-head screwdriver
Bucket
Carb cleaner spray
Canned air
Gas
Unscrew the fuel line's clamp on the base of the Troy-Bilt mower's gas tank, using a screwdriver. Pull the fuel line off and direct it into the bucket to capture the old gas.
Unscrew the clamp holding the fuel line onto the side of the carburetor with the screwdriver. Pull the fuel line off the carburetor nozzle.
Hold the fuel line vertically over the bucket. Spray carb cleaner into the end of the fuel line for 10 to 15 seconds.
Flip the fuel hose 180 degrees. Point the canned air into the end of the fuel line and blow out any gummy gas into the bucket for 15 to 20 seconds.
Reattach the fuel line between the gas tank and carburetor. Tighten the clamps with the screwdriver.
Fill the gas tank with new, clean gas.
