Builders' lime
Water
Bucket
Paint stirrer
Paint brush
Place 1/2 pound of lime into a bucket. Builders' lime is available at most home improvement stores as well as at some gardening centers.
Pour 1 1/2 liters of water into the bucket.
Use a paint stirrer to thoroughly mix the lime with the water. The consistency of the solution should be slightly thinner than paint.
Dip the paint brush into the lime solution and apply it to the tree trunk. Apply the mixture from two inches above the base of the tree trunk to as far up the trunk as possible.
Allow the lime solution to dry completely for approximately one hour.
Apply a second coat of lime paint and allow to dry.
