Makita manufactures a wide range of reliable power tools and the Makita Weed Trimmer is no exception. When you need to replace the trimmer line on the Makita, you have two options. Although you can purchase bulk line and rewind line on your spool, it is much quicker and less frustrating to purchase a pre-wound spool. Pre- wound spools have line already on them, and you can quickly change out spools on your Makita Weed Trimmer and have your trimmer ready to work.
Things You'll Need
Replacement Makita trimmer spool
Unplug the spark plug wire with your fingers. Grab the wire where it connects over the spark plug and pull the wire off the spark plug.
Grab the spool housing at the tabs with one hand and squeeze the tabs inward. Pull off the spool cover with your other hand.
Pull the spool out of the spool housing and set the old spool out of the way. Insert the new spool into the spool housing, guiding the ends of the lines through the spool housing eyelets.
Line up the notches on the side of the spool cover with the notches on the spool housing. Push the spool cover into the spool housing until the cover locks into place. Connect the spark plug wire to the spark plug.
Tips & Warnings
You can purchase pre-wound spools at home improvement centers and authorized Makita dealers.
Always unplug the spark plug wire before servicing your Makita Weed Trimmer.
