You can preserve a meaningful bouquet of flowers by drying them. There are several methods you can use but drying them in a closet may be the best way to keep the flowers as close to their original appearance as possible. Using hairspray at the end of the process helps to protect the flowers from the effects of some natural elements and to preserve their color.
Things You'll Need
Shears
Rubber bands
Dental floss, plain
Hanger
Hairspray
Remove parts of the flower that you do not wish to save, such as excess leaves and thorns. Cut the stem to the length you desire.
Use a rubber band to hold the flower stems together, if you are drying more than one.
Tie the ends of the stems with plain dental floss and tie them, hanging upside down, to a hanger. Hang the flowers in a dark closet and leave them to dry for three weeks.
Take the dried flowers out of the closet and untie the dental floss. Spray them with hairspray. Use the flowers as you wish but try to limit their exposure to sunlight and high heat.
