Grubs are the larval stage of common beetles found in your yard. These insect pests typically show up in the spring months of the year. They are known for causing significant damage to lawns across the country. Borax, or sodium tetraborate, is an all-natural substance that kills many beneficial and harmful insects in your lawn's environment.
Things You'll Need
1 tbsp. 20 Mule Team borax
32-oz. spray bottle
Funnel
Warm water
Funnel 1 tbsp. of borax into the empty spray bottle.
Fill the spray bottle with warm water and screw on the lid.
Shake the bottle vigorously until the borax is dissolved.
Spray on the areas of your yard that show signs of grub damage. Grub damage generally appears as patches of dead, brown grass.
Repeat monthly until all the grubs are gone.
Tips & Warnings
Label any homemade products used indoors or outdoors and store out of reach of children and household pets.
You can also use beneficial insects and one specific herb called milky spore to fight grubs. The milky spore causes the grubs to catch a disease that will kill them.
