What Is a Redmond Linden Tree?. The Redmond linden tree is a large tree that is usually seen in rural areas. The large tree is difficult to manage in urban settings because it requires a large growing area. Once planted, the tree requires little care and will provide shade and beauty for many years. The tree has a lifespan of 30 years or more.

Appearance
The Redmond linden tree is a large tree that can grow 50 to 80 feet tall. The branch spread of the linden tree is anywhere from 30 to 45 feet wide. The branches start growing about 1 to 2 feet off of the ground, and the whole tree has a triangular shape. The leaves of the tree are dark green and heart or teardrop shaped, about 8 inches long and 6 inches wide. In June or July, the tree bursts into small yellow flowers that have a fragrant smell. The flowers are very small and look like large baby’s breath.
Growing Climate
The Redmond linden tree can grow in a variety of climates. The best growing zones for the tree are USDA hardiness zones 4 to 8. The linden tree can grow in a variety of soils, as long as they are well drained and provide medium moisture. The ideal soil is a moist, loamy soil. The tree should be planted in full sun to partial shade. The tree can withstand dryer conditions over humid conditions.
Problems
There are a few problems that can occur with the Redmond linden tree. The trees cannot grow well in urban areas, and if they are planted in too small an area, the roots can cause problems for surrounding plumbing, buildings, sidewalks and roads. Care

The tree should be watered regularly, about once or twice a week depending on the climate. Prune in the spring once leaves have sprouted. The tree can be pruned to grow in a rectangle, triangle or circle shape.
Uses
There are several uses for the Redmond linden tree. The tree is largely used as a decorative tree for large yards and plots of land. The tree needs at least a 6 by 6 square foot area to spread its roots. The tree is also used as a hedge or for shade, or as a parking lot buffer, highway decoration or sidewalk cutout. The flowers are also used for gourmet honey production.
