Gardening is a hobby in which the gardener has to wait awhile to enjoy the fruits of her labor. Flowers and vegetables, whether planted as seedlings or with seeds, take time to mature and produce their full beauty. Nothing is more frustrating than looking out your window to check the progress of your garden only to discover that some animal has feasted on your hard work. Commercial animal repellents are available for purchase, but you can use a rather handy home remedy to keep many garden-eating animals away.
Things You'll Need
First morning urine
Cup
Spray bottle
Garden gloves
Soap
Water
Towel
Step 1
Collect your first morning urine in a cup. Your urine is most potent first thing in the morning. Male urine is preferred, if possible.
Step 2
Pour the urine into a plastic spray bottle.
Step 3
Wear garden gloves in case your spray bottle leaks while applying the urine to plants.
Step 4
Spray the urine onto plants that are being eaten by animals. Spray all portions of the plant including stems, leaves and any flowers, fruits or vegetables. Reapply the urine spray every time you water or after it rains.
Step 5
Wash your hands using soap and water and dry with a clean towel.
