Fertilizer
Large pot
Wait to plant your soybeans until well after the threat of frost has passed in your area. Any frost will damage bean plants.
Choose an area to plant where the beans will receive full sun. Till the area to a depth of 2 inches. Test the soil using a pH kit. You can take your result to a local nursery for help with any soil amendments you may need to add to ensure healthy growth. Soybeans prefer a soil rich in nitrogen.
Place your beans 2 inches apart in rows that are 20 to 24 inches apart. Cover your soybeans and water until they are very moist; avoid having the water puddle in the dirt. Water again every two to four days, depending on the amount of rain. Water just enough to keep the soil moist.
Harvest your plants after about 85 days when the pods are full of beans. Place the pods into a large pot of boiling water; boil for 20 minutes. Then extract the soy beans by gently pinching them out. At this stage you can eat them, freeze them or can them.
