Few things are more annoying or irritating than discovering a wide variety of bugs wreaking havoc on your peach tree. According to the Clemson University Cooperative Extension, there are a number of insects that cause damage to peach flowers, fruit, limbs, twigs and trunks. Learning how to keep bugs off your peach tree is essential if you want your peach tree to stay in a healthy condition.

Determine what type of bug is destroying your peach tree. According to the University of Rhode Island Landscape Horticulture Program, common insects and mites affecting peaches and nectarines include the tarnished plant bug, stink bug, oriental fruit moth, plum curculio, peach tree borers, Japanese beetle, green June beetle and the European red mite.
Apply a proven insecticide to your peach tree. Different insecticides will kill or repel different bugs from your peach tree. For example, an insecticide containing cottonseed oil will repel scales and aphids from your tree, while an insecticide containing endosulfan will repel or get rid of peach tree borers from your tree.
Pick up fallen fruit on a regular basis. Put the dropped fruit into a plastic bag and place it into a secure garbage can. According to the University of Rhode Island Landscape Horticulture Program, picking up fallen fruit two to three times a week will help keep larvae in fallen fruit from developing in the soil.
Hand pick all visible bugs from your peach tree. Place the bugs into a plastic bag. Seal the bag and place it into a secure garbage can.
Tips & Warnings
Use gloves when hand picking the bugs from your peach tree, as some bugs may produce a vicious sting or odor once handled.
Applying an insecticide improperly could cause severe damage to your peach tree. Always read all insecticide label directions carefully before applying the insecticide to your tree.
