The "Lily Tree" is a trademarked name for tall hybrid lilies--a mix between Oriental and trumpet lilies--also known as orienpets. Orienpet lilies offer the fragrance of the Oriental lilies with the large size of the trumpets, but are stronger and sturdier than either of their parents. These hybrids can grow in both cold and humid conditions. They usually reach 3 to 6 feet tall and can bloom well into August.
Assure that your orienpet bulb grows in well-drained soil. Your orienpets need at least half a day of sun. While orienpets can tolerate partial shade, they do best out of blasting sun.
Ensure the orienpet bulbs are planted at a depth at least three times the bulb diameter. Individual plants should be at least 4 inches from one another.
Stake your orienpet to provide support as necessary. While not every orienpet needs staking, many do.
Remove flower heads as they fade to allow the bulb extra energy. Cut the entire plant stem at ground level in the fall after a hard frost.
