A garden hose left in the yard can damage the grass underneath it, cause damage to a lawn mower or trip unsuspecting people walking by. Bringing a hose indoors when you're not using it prolongs the life of the hose, protecting it from extremes of heat and cold. Lawn and garden supply stores sell dozens of products to help you roll your garden hose when you're not using it, but the hose can be properly stored even without these gadgets.
Things You'll Need
Zip-tie or rope
Pick up the hose where it touches the ground after coming out of the spigot.
Make a circle about 2 feet in diameter by looping the hose on the ground, pulling in more hose as you loop it. Continue pulling the hose until you have looped the entire length of it.
Tie a zip-tie or piece of rope through the circle to keep the hose from unraveling. Then you can move it off the grass, hang it from a hook beside the spigot or store it in a large urn.
