An outdoor electrical breaker box that is on the ground is an unsightly, if necessary, addition to any backyard. There are a number of ways to hide the electrical breaker box so that it doesn't become an eyesore when it is not in use. You will need a few landscaping tools that most households already have as well as supplies from a hardware store and home and garden shop.
Things You'll Need
Potted plants
Shovel
Small shrubs
Folding vinyl fence
Tent pegs
Soft mallet
Adhesive glue
Hideaway rock
Place potted plants completely around the electrical breaker box, about two feet away. The impromptu garden circle you are creating will keep the electrical breaker box from being seen by those looking in its direction.
Dig holes about a foot in front of the electrical breaker box on all sides with a shovel. Plant small shrubs that are taller than the box, to hide the box from the casual observer.
Place a folding vinyl fence on the side of the electrical breaker box that faces the house. Pound tent pegs into the ground, next to the the bottom of the fence, using a soft mallet. Glue the tops of the pegs to the sides of the fence with adhesive glue to keep it upright.
Purchase a "hideaway" rock that is designed to go over outdoor fixtures, for example, water pipes. Place the hole in the bottom of the "rock" over the electrical breaker box to conceal it. The "rock" can be removed at any time, should there be a need to use the electrical breaker box.
Tips & Warnings
Hiding the electrical breaker box will also prevent it from being tripped over or accidentally run into when using a lawn mower.
