A snow blower is a useful tool for clearing large amounts of snow from walkways and driveways. A snow blower is motorized power equipment that is usually self-propelled and guided by the user just like a lawn mower. The Cub Cadet snow thrower features heated handles, chute tilt control and traction control. You can troubleshoot smaller performance issues before having to take it in for repair.
Things You'll Need
Screwdriver
Plastic film
Gas
Drive belt (optional)
Insert the key completely into the switch and open the fuel shut-off valve if the snow blower won't start.
Move the choke to the "Off" position. Drain the fuel tank and refill it with fresh gas if the engine runs erratically.
Adjust the traction control cable if the Cub Cadet snow thrower won't propel itself forward. Drain the gas or place plastic film under the gas cap and tip the machine forward so it rests on the auger housing. Detach the six screws to remove the frame cover. Loosen the jam nut located on the traction drive cable and move the cable, then retighten the nut.
Replace the drive belt if the snow blower refuses to move forward on its own. Drain the gas, tip the machine and remove the frame cover like with the traction control. Pull up on the idler pulley, then slide the drive belt off the friction wheel disc and the wheel drive pulley. Pull the belt out between the friction wheel and the drive disc. Replace with a new belt.
Disconnect the spark plug and clean any foreign materials out of the discharge chute if the machine won't throw any snow. Also check the auger to ensure that nothing is lodged in there.
