Starting a landscape business can be a daunting task for entrepreneurs, and having the right equipment is a big part of having a successful business. There is a large amount of equipment from which to choose, ranging from small to big, that will be near the top of the business owner's most pressing business needs.
Lawn mowers are a must for any landscape business. Typically, a company will want to own at least one large riding mower as well as several push mowers for smaller jobs. Under the mower division, a company will want to carry weed-eating devices as well as trimmers to edge the lawn.
Blowers and collectors are most handy during the late fall and early winter, but they also can come in handy during the spring if a homeowner's property was not kept up. The collectors can also be used to pick up grass clippings in the summer.
A lawn service company will need several different types of handheld tools, including rakes, spades, hoes and hedge clippers. These tools will often be used to finish a project. Various-sized ladders also may be needed for tree trimming.
Some landscapers will want to invest in equipment such as bucket trucks to reach the tops of houses or for removing large branches; a chipper to remove wood debris and turn it into mulch; and heavy-duty pressure washers to clean decks, patios and the sides of houses.
Businesses also will need protective gear, including thick gloves, eye wear and hard hats, which are necessary when removing trees. They also should have such items as ear plugs and sound mufflers for use with loud equipment.
