American Holly
Holly plants grow on all of the continents except for Australia and Antarctica, and they can be grown in all 50 states. Holly comes in all sizes, from dwarf holly shrubs that grow 6 feet tall to 70-foot tall holly trees. "Little Red" Holly is a compact medium-sized evergreen shrub that grows at a moderate rate in full sun or partial shade, likes well-drained soil, and is cold hardy. It is a good selection for a yard or garden that deer frequent.
Junipers
Junipers are used as ground covers or as hedges, screens, or windbreaks, and they also make good background plants in shrub beds or flower gardens. The "Blue Star" juniper is a popular small bush juniper that has a bushy, dome-shaped form and is a silvery-blue color. It grows slowly in alkaline or acidic soil and prefers soil that drains freely. It repels deer.

It has a medium growth rate while it is young and a slow growth rate as it ages. Scotch Pine grows best in well drained soils, but can tolerate sandy, rocky, or heavy clay conditions. It is hardy and adapts to heat, drought, or severe cold. It is deer resistant.
Colorado Spruce
There are more than seven species of the spruce family found throughout Canada and the United States. Spruces are cone-shaped and broad at their base and grow many feet upwards to taper to a point at the top. Spruce trees can reach a height of 125-150 feet. Colorado Spruce trees need to be planted in moist, fertile soil where they will receive full to partial sunlight. The prickly texture and the strong aroma of the Colorado Spruce repel deer.
Boxwood
There are more than 70 species of Boxwood evergreen shrubs. The Wintergreen Boxwood is a mushroom-shaped, broad-leafed shrub. It is a low hedge or a border-defining garden hedge with dark green leaves that stay green all winter long. Wintergreen Boxwood grow best in well-drained moist soil in full sunlight. English Boxwoods have luxuriant green foliage that is easily pruned. Both repel deer.
