Engine
The Ford 4000 gasoline model offered a three-cylinder engine with a displacement of 192 cubic inches. The compression ratio was 8 to 1 and the engine was rated at 2,200 rpm. The Ford 4000 diesel model offered a three-cylinder engine with a displacement of 201 cubic inches. The compression ratio was 16.5 to 1 and the engine was rated at 2,200 rpm.
Chassis
The Ford 4000 tractor featured two transmission options. One option was a dual range transmission with eight forward and two reverse gears and a 3.3-gallon oil capacity. With this option, the tractor had to be stopped to shift gears.
