Beer is not just for humans. Beer is also enjoyed by lawns, helping them become more lush and greener by promoting microbial interactions. If you are considering concocting your own lawn fertilizer, why not add beer to the mix? All of the suggested mixtures below also require ammonia, so please avoid breathing in the fumes. Obviously, you should not taste-test these mixtures, which are good for about 400 to 600 sq. ft. of lawn.
Beer and Ammonia
Fill the sprayer end of your hose with 1 can of beer, 1 cup of ammonia, 1 cup of dish soap, 1 cup of liquid lawn fertilizer and 1 cup of molasses. Spray this solution over the lawn early in the morning every 3 to 4 weeks.
Beer and Epsom Salts
A solution of 2 cups water, 1 cup beer, 1 cup Epsom salts and 1 cup ammonia produces a lawn fertilizer that aerates the ground and promote nutrient absorption.
Beer and Cola
Combine 1 can of nondiet carbonated cola, 1 can of regular beer, ? cup of ammonia, ? cup dishwashing soap and ? cup mouthwash. The mouthwash acts as an insect repellant, while the soap acts as a wetting agent, helping to spread the mixture. Keep pets off the treated lawn for 24 to 36 hours.
