Fertilzer Burm
Overfertilization can "burn" plants. This occurs when too many salts are absorbed into the plant's root system. This makes the roots less effective at absorbing water, and causes the plant system to dry out from the root system up.
Growth and Production
Overfertilized plants bloom less. They grow green foliage excessively, and seldom or never flower or produce fruit.
Health
Overfertilization releases excessive nitrogen into the environment, which can have negative effects on the health of those exposed. It creates an increased risk of respiratory illness, cancer and heart disease.
Pollution
Runoff from excessive fertilization enters groundwater and pollutes water supplies. This not only poisons drinking water for people, but can have serious effects of wildlife living in those waters.
