According to the North Carolina State University Extension, a mature Venus fly trap has leaves that radiate from the center of the plant and lay along the ground. Each leaf averages 2 to 5 inches long.
Flower Size
The flowers of the Venus fly trap grow on upright stalks that can reach a height of 4 to 12 inches tall. The five-petal flowers grow at the end of each stalk and are around 0.7 inches across.
Trap Size
Each leaf contains a trap at the end consisting of two opposing lobes edged with fang-like projections. The trap closes on insects that venture into the trap. Each trap can reach up to 2 inches long, although smaller sizes of around 1 inch are more typical.
