A miniature rose is any variety of rose that grows between 15 and 36 inches or a climbing rose with flowers that are smaller than 2 inches in diameter.
Bloom Times
How often your miniature rose blooms depends on the variety you have. Most miniature roses bloom in mid- to late spring. Some of these will re-bloom again in the summer, with a few varieties blooming continually through the growing season.
Everblooming Varieties
Quite a few varieties of miniature rose are considered everblooming, meaning that they bloom continuously through the growing season. Some of these varieties are Popcorn, Sweet Chariot, Fireworks, China Doll, and The Fairy.
Repeat Blooming Varieties
Repeat blooming roses bloom in profusion in the spring season and may then bloom again once or twice before the end of the season. Iceberg, Rainbow's End, Snow Bride, and Autumn Splendor are all repeat bloomers.
Once Blooming Varieties
Some miniature roses bloom in profusion in the spring or summer and then do not bloom again until the next year. Nozomi and Petite de Hollande are two varieties of once-blooming miniature roses.
Pruning and Deadheading
Prune miniature roses according to their variety. Since some varieties require deadheading or pruning in order for the rose to re-bloom the same year, determine your roses' variety and follow care instructions for that type.
