Create a homemade cinnamon mixture to deter deer from your yard and to take back control of your space. Using cinnamon is cheaper than erecting expensive and unsightly fencing and safer than using toxic substances as deer repellents. This simple concoction made from kitchen items you may already have on hand will encourage deer to find a new hangout spot.
Things You'll Need
2 raw eggs
Large bowl
Electric hand mixer
8 oz. milk
2 tsp. hot sauce
1 tsp. dishwashing detergent
1 tsp. vegetable oil
20 drops cinnamon oil
1 gallon water
Spoon
Spray bottle
Break two eggs into a large bowl, and beat them thoroughly with an electric hand mixer.
Add 8 oz. of milk, 2 tsp. of hot sauce, 1 tsp. of dishwashing detergent, 1 tsp. of vegetable oil and 20 drops of cinnamon oil to the eggs, and continue mixing.
Add 1 gallon of water to the mixture, and stir it well with a spoon to distribute the ingredients evenly.
Pour the mixture into a spray bottle. Thoroughly spray the foliage in the area of your yard where the deer tend to congregate. If you've beaten the eggs well, they shouldn't clog your spray bottle. If they do, add additional water to the mixture to thin it a bit to make spraying easier.
Tips & Warnings
Never store this mixture for future use. Make a new batch each time.
Add crushed garlic to the mixture as an additional ingredient to deter deer.
Avoid spraying your yard on a windy day to ensure that the mixture goes exactly where you want it.
Avoid spraying edible plants with this repellent mixture.
