One or more flies in your house can quickly lead to an infestation, if left untreated. Female flies lay hundreds of eggs, and the transition period from egg to adult fly is only one week. Because they're attracted to unsanitary conditions, and linked to disease-causing bacteria and viruses, flies are unwelcome visitors. To get rid of flies in your house and to keep them away, incorporate a combination of measures to kill them and to keep your home clean.

Flyswatter or newspaper
Flypaper
Ultraviolet light traps
Insecticide
Kill flies sitting on solid surfaces. Swat them with a flyswatter or folded newspaper. Manually killing flies slowly reduces the amount of flies swarming in your home.
Hang flypaper from the ceiling in rooms where flies are prominent. Flypaper has a sticky surface. If the flies bump into the paper, they stick to it and eventually die.
Set up ultraviolet light traps in fly-infested areas. Position the lights on the floor, or hang them from the ceiling or wall. The ultraviolet light attracts flies. Once the flies touch the electrocuting grid that surrounds the light, they get zapped and die.
Apply insecticide to corners of infested rooms according to packaging instructions. When flies land on the insecticide, it kills them. Combine insecticide with other trapping and killing methods, because some flies are immune to it.
Tips & Warnings
Remove items that attract flies to your home; this can be anything from spoiled food that's lying around to feces from pets and exposed trash. Place trash outdoors, far from your home, in bins sealed with lids.
Install window and door screens to keep flies out of your home. Seal cracks, crevices and holes in the foundation of your home, because these can act as entryways to flies.
