The Snapper lawn mower company claims to have a complete line of residential lawn equipment that is effortless to use and maintain. A typical gas-powered mower works by rotating a cutting blade around an axis. All the power is originated by a modest combustible engine. Snapper mowers work in the same way. In order to start these engines, the user must use a pull cord. Over time these cords wear down and break. To fix it, you must replace the pull cord.
Things You'll Need
Screwdriver
New pull cord
Turn the mower off and make sure it is on a flat surface. Place a brick or small block of wood behind the wheels to ensure stability while working on it.
Remove all screws keeping the mower's housing in place. Lift the housing off of the Snapper mower and find the disc containing the pull cord off to one side of the engine.
Remove the disc's housing by unscrewing any fasteners. Depending on the Snapper mower model, these can be nuts and bolts or standard screws.
Unroll the old cord and take it of the disc. Pay attention to the direction it is originally wound, whether clockwise or counterclockwise. Wind on the new cord in the same direction as the original.
Reattach the disc cover by refastening all screws. Replace the mower's external housing and test the new pull cord.
