When you are maintaining your Briggs and Stratton lawn mower engine, if the engine was starting hard or dying because of fuel problems, then it is safe to say that you will need to clean the carburetor and fuel line on the engine. A clean fuel line allows the gas from the gas tank to flow easily to the carburetor for injection into the engine. The fuel line can easily become gummed up with gas, so you will have to be able to locate the fuel line on your Briggs and Stratton lawn mower engine, remove it, and clean it.
Things You'll Need
Briggs and Stratton lawn mower engine
Kneel beside the Briggs and Stratton lawn mower engine.
Locate the gas tank on the Briggs and Stratton lawn mower engine.
Look under the gas tank to find the fuel line clamped to the base of the gas tank. The fuel line is a black, rubber hose that will have a clamp on the end of it.
Follow the fuel line to the side of the carburetor where the other end of the fuel line will be clamped to. The center of the fuel line should have a fuel filter (a small, white plastic disc) clamped in the center of it.
