If you have problem weeds in your lawn, home remedies may not be enough to do the trick. You may need to use a chemical herbicide. BASF, The Chemical Company, makes a product called Weedmaster Herbicide. Weedmaster must be mixed with water before it is applied to your weeds. It is also important that you practice certain safety measures before you use the Weedmaster herbicide.
Things You'll Need
Long clothes
Boots
Gloves
Mask
Goggles
5 gallons water
Backpack sprayer
Dress in long clothing before you use the Weedmaster herbicide. This should include boots and a pair of gloves. It is important that you protect your skin as the herbicide can cause skin irritation.
Put on a mask and goggles. The mask will keep you from breathing in the herbicide while the goggles protect your eyes from potential splashes.
Pour your water into a backpack sprayer. The backpack sprayer will make it easier for you to apply the herbicide to your weeds.
Measure out 5 fluid oz. of Weedmaster herbicide and add it to your backpack sprayer. Put the lid on the backpack sprayer and give it a shake to combine the two ingredients.
Aim the nozzle of your backpack sprayer directly at your weeds. Hold it 1 to 2 feet away and begin spraying. Wet the weeds completely, but do not make them so wet they are dripping.
Tips & Warnings
Use your Weedmaster herbicide on a day with light to no wind. Too much wind will allow the herbicide to drift and kill unwanted vegetation.
Keep pets and children away from the sprayed areas until they have completely dried.
