During the winter, outdoor decor is often covered at the base in snow, but if your area rarely or never sees snow, you may want to create the look on your own. You can add a layer of fake snow over the base of each outdoor decoration to make them look as if they are sitting on little blankets of snow. Cotton batting makes realistic-looking snow, and it is easy to work with as well.
Things You'll Need
Cotton batting
Scissors
Tent stakes
Hammer
White glitter
Cut a sheet of batting with a pair of scissors to cover the ground area. Cut it in an irregular circle, oval or rectangle. Avoid perfectly straight edges, as they will look less realistic.
Remove the outdoor decoration from its spot and lay the batting over the spot. Replace the decoration.
Cut 1/2-inch slits in four exposed corners or sides of the cotton batting. Do not cut through the edge; rather, make a buttonhole-type slit.
Push tent stakes through each of the slits to hold the batting in place. Use a hammer to tap them in if the ground is especially hard.
Sprinkle white glitter over the exposed batting to add a glistening effect to the fake snow.
