Sow Kirby cucumber seeds indoors during the spring, at least two weeks before the last spring frost. Plant seeds about one-half inch deep.
Add organic compost to the soil prior to planting cucumbers in your vegetable garden. Soil should be well drained with a pH of approximately 6.5.
Plant seedlings 18 inches apart in full sun. Use a trellis to grow Kirby cucumbers, which will help increase air circulation and reduce the risk of mildew.
Use mulch to suppress any weeds as well as maintain soil moisture.
Help plants attach to trellises by gently moving branches near them, if necessary.

Sow again in summer for an extended harvest.
Pick cucumbers in the fall before cold weather. Even a light frost can kill your plants.
