Power
The ZB 600 is a liquid-cooled, four-cycle diesel engine with two cylinders. The engine has a bore and stroke of 2.83 by 2.76 inches and a total displacement of 34.78 cubic inches.
The gross intermittent power output is 10.3 kilowatts per 3,200 rpm, equal to 13.8 horsepower. The engine’s net intermittent output is 9.3 kW per 3,200 rpm, or 12.5 horsepower. The net continuous output is 8.2 kW per 3,200 rpm, or 11 horsepower.
Function
The Kubota ZB 600 engine is built into a series of Grove Manlifts, AMZ36E through AMZ51E. The vehicles are midsized, industrial cherry pickers used to lift a worker in a basket, on the end of a boom lift. The ZB 600 is also used in the UpRight AB46, another cherry picker with a boom reach to the working height of 52 feet, 4 inches.
Mechanical
The ZB 600 engine uses a VSF5 valve stem seal, which meters oil below the seal to lubricate the valve train. The sizes are 8 by 10.8 mm and 14.2 by 104 mm. The rear crankshaft oil seal is a ST017, with dimensions of 85 by 131 mm and 152 by 15.7 mm.
The engine’s Aerospace Standard 568 O-ring has a 15.54 mm inside diameter (ID) and a 2.62 by 2.62 mm cross-section (C/S4). The high-temperature resistance range for the O-ring, model AS114, is -30 degrees Celsius, to 100 degrees Celsius. The O-ring is a gasket that creates a seal at the interface at two parts.
