Description
A thick-skinned hot pepper, cowhorn grows to a length of 8 to 10 inches and approximately 1 inch in diameter. It resembles a cow's horn in shape, thus the name. Cowhorn peppers ripen from green to bright red when mature.
Growing
Cowhorn peppers plants grow best when planted in direct sunlight in a well-amended soil that contains ample organic matter. The plants should be spaced 18 inches apart in rows 30 inches apart. The plants mature in 75 to 85 days. Peppers should be cut from the plant using a sharp knife when mature; pulling them off can damage the plant.
Uses
